8.1 From Writing Rules to Learning Them

In Part I you were the rule-writer. You told Python exactly what to do, line by line, and it did exactly that, every time. That's Software 1.0. This chapter flips the job: instead of writing the rules, you show a machine a pile of examples and let it work out the rules on its own. That's Software 2.0, and the fastest way to feel the difference is to teach a computer to see.
