10.1 What Is NLP?
In Part II so far, you taught a computer to see and to hear. Both were sorting tasks: is this a guitar or a piano, a major chord or a minor one. This chapter crosses into Software 3.0, where the machine stops only sorting and starts creating. To get there, it first has to read. Natural Language Processing, or NLP, is how a computer turns words into something it can work with, and it's the foundation under every chatbot you've ever used.
